How is it made?

Each of my pieces is totally unique, made carefully by me just for you. I take great pride in producing a quality product, and relish each step of the process. My work is based on the ancient Italian technique of majolica, along with my own extensive testing, trial and error, and research. I take my greatest inspiration from Nature, seeing in it endless possibilities for beautiful color.

I use a terracotta clay. It is a deep, rich red, and matures around 2000 degrees. I mix the glaze by hand from materials such as silica. Because each piece is handpainted by me, no two are the same. Decorating each piece is very time-intensive, yet the results are worth it. I delight in the subtle variations in color and the unique qualities of each brushstroke, knowing it can never be captured or replicated again.

I utilize a variety of techniques to form each piece, from the traditional potter’s wheel to handmade plaster molds. Each piece is fired twice in an electric kiln for the brightest colors possible.

This work exists to be used and enjoyed daily in your home: to hold your morning coffee, to be a part of your family table, to bring joy to your every day experiences.
