Can a Mug Really Make a Difference? Changing our world with beauty, generosity, and the touch of the hand
How can one person, one very small set of hands, one piece of pottery change the world? The problems and challenges we face are huge, and daunting. How can one person make any difference?
The challenges we face are great, and the truth is no one can solve every problem, or face any difficulty alone, even the most wealthy or powerful. I seek to change the world with an experience of the beautiful, the generous, the life-giving. My hope is that your ownership and use of these pieces will transform you, and inspire you to be ambassadors of mercy to others you encounter.
The smallest action and the simplest word can make a big difference, especially to those who feel worthless, are trapped in isolation and suffering, and who have forgotten what beauty and hope feel like. You can be that light to them, and I'm here to give you one more tool to shine brightly in the world.
Being an artist has also challenged me to grow in these areas. My goal of making beautiful, generous, inspiring work means that I first have to become a radically different kind of person. Otherwise, my ceramics will always fall short. My work in the studio is a reflection of, and informs, all other parts of my life.
